Basketball Recap: Lincoln Northwest Comes Up Short

Lincoln Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 48-23 to the York Dukes. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Dukes are ranked 33rd).

Lainey Portwine was nothing short of spectacular for York: she posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Portwine is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Koch, who put up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Lincoln Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for York, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Lincoln Northwest will challenge Gretna at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for York, they will face off against Northwest at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
