Softball Game Preview: Maranatha Christian Eagles vs. St. Joseph Academy Crusaders

The Maranatha Christian Eagles will square off against the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maranatha Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Maranatha Christian after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Tri-City Christian by a score of 6-5.

Lillian Visser was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Visser was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Hope Fitzherbert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Arango, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Maranatha Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy got the win against Bonsall on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-8. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Legionnaires: they've now won three in a row.

Maranatha Christian's record is now 1-5. As for St. Joseph Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
