Recap: Roy Royals vs. Box Elder Bees

After a string of three wins, the Roy Royals's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Box Elder by a score of 59-56. The match was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but Roy was outscored by Box Elder in the second.

Roy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bronson Belnap, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Belnap also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahlen Pontius, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Box Elder had a senior duo take command as Max Isaacson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds and Elijah Kersey scored 24 points along with three steals. Isaacson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carter Buchanon was another key contributor, scoring four points.

Roy's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Box Elder, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Roy will head out on the road to square off against Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Roy likes a good challenge. As for Box Elder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bountiful focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Friday.
