Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Comes Up Short

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART was the 39-35 winner over KIPP Denver Collegiate when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 40-39 to the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers. The Ocelotls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Rocky Mountain Prep SMART lost, don't look at Vianey Gonzalex. Despite the final result, she posted 27 points. Those 27 points gave Gonzalex a new career-high.

KIPP Denver Collegiate was led to victory by Shaila Ramirez and Nicole Ricalday. Ramirez dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 boards, while Ricalday dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. With that strong performance, Ramirez is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-11.
