Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Has No Trouble Against Heritage

Cherokee Trail barely beat Heritage the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 7-1 win on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cherokee Trail let Landon McWilliams and Peyton Michlig run wild. McWilliams went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Michlig went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave McWilliams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Ryan, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Cherokee Trail's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Heritage, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Cherokee Trail will take on Arapahoe at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage, they will square off against Fruita Monument at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
