Baseball Game Preview: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Jackson Academy Raiders

For the second straight game, Jackson Prep will face off against Jackson Academy. The Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jackson Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Jackson Prep heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They came up short against Jackson Academy, falling 7-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Jackson Academy's part, Whit Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. Davis has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Academy let Justin Word and Crew Hassell run wild. Word got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, while Hassell went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Hassell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deuce Jenkins, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Jackson Academy's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Jackson Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 19-14-1.
