Football Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Pomona Panthers + How To Watch

The Thompson Valley Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Pomona Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Thompson Valley 11.3, Pomona 11.9) so any points scored will be well earned.

Thompson Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Roosevelt just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 34-22 to the Roughriders. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 11.33 points allowed.

Thompson Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Wall, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and Finley Lucas, who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Wall showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 59 yards. Karter Christiansen handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

Meanwhile, Pomona waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 65-14 win over the Mustangs. That looming 65-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Thompson Valley better keep an eye on Luis Santana. He was instrumental in Pomona's win, rushing for 212 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Those 212 rushing yards gave Santana a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Tucker Ingersoll, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.

Pomona's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.

Thompson Valley beat Pomona 16-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
