Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

After flying high against Boyd Christian last Friday, Monterey came back down to earth. The Monterey Wildcats lost 68-48 to the York Institute Dragons on Monday. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Monterey saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tanner Brown posted 19 points. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Collin Fowler, who put up ten points.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for York Institute, the win snapped their losing streak at 14 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-13 record.

Monterey has already played their next contest, an 86-38 loss against Jackson County on the 28th. York Institute has also already played their next match (against Stone Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
