Football Game Preview: Central Rockets vs. Somerset Academy Panthers + Official Tickets

The Central Rockets will face off against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 145 points over their last three contests.

Central gave up the first points on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They managed a 34-28 win over Southridge. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rockets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Spartans are ranked 31st).

One reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Jakhi Barber with two. Louisden Paul was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending two passes.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Somerset Academy was not quite Somerset Academy - Canyons' equal in the second half on Monday. They lost to the Cougars at home by a 28-14 margin. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Central's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.4 points over those games. As for Somerset Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
