Baseball Game Preview: Prior Lake Lakers vs. Minnetonka Skippers

Prior Lake is 0-5 against Minnetonka since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Lakers will head out to take on the Skippers at 6:30 p.m. Prior Lake will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Prior Lake's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Lakeville South with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Lakers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Minnetonka fell victim to Eden Prairie and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Skippers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Minnetonka got a good showing from Daschle Duwe, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Minnetonka saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Storts, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Lincoln Heitkamp also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Minnetonka's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Prior Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Prior Lake couldn't quite finish off Minnetonka in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
