Basketball Recap: Sharp Academy Comes Up Short

Sharp Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They were beaten by the Accelerate Christian Warriors 74-33. The defeat leaves the Sabers without a win on the season.

Sharp Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Timothy Rodriguez, who posted five points along with 24 boards and four steals, and Michael Boyles, who put up 20 points and five rebounds. That was a full 60.6% of Sharp Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Sharp Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Accelerate Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Miller, who went 11 of 21 on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Reece Griffin, who went 9 for 21 en route to 20 points.

Sharp Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Accelerate Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 2-11 record.

Sharp Academy will welcome Lubbock T at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Accelerate Christian, they will face off against Jesus Chapel at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
