Softball Game Preview: Bishop Snyder Cardinals vs. Orange Park Raiders

Bishop Snyder hasn't had much luck against Orange Park recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bishop Snyder Cardinals will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Orange Park Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Bishop Snyder is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Episcopal School of Jacksonville by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday.

Caitlyn Boshell was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Boshell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Gabriella Rogers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mady Grumbly, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Orange Park unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 11-1 to Palatka on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Orange Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Regan Barnett, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
