Soccer Game Preview: Lakeview vs. Portage Northern

Lakeview is 1-8 against Portage Northern since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will look to defend their home pitch against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lakeview's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. Everything went their way against Jackson as they made off with a 4-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Lakeview, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Portage Northern hadn't done well against Norrix recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Huskies beat the Knights by a goal, winning 1-0. The game was the first time Portage Northern have beaten Norrix on their pitch since April 19, 2017.

Lakeview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Portage Northern, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11-4.
