Baseball Recap: Metea Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Rolling Meadows

There's no place like home for Metea Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on Rolling Meadows with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. While Metea Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tyler Gluting made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gluting was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other pitching news, Kayden Nimer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Willhite, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Carter Behrns was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Metea Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Metea Valley's record is now 7-2. As for Rolling Meadows, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1-1.

Metea Valley and Rolling Meadows should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 147th) will meet Oswego East (ranked 308th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows will face off against Maine East at 4:45 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (75 vs. 387).
