Softball Recap: Grants Takes a Loss

Grants came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-4 to the Bernalillo Spartans. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Grants saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Toivanen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Melia Chavez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Grants' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Bernalillo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Grants has already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against Capital on the 20th. As for Bernalillo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-13 loss against Goddard on the 20th.
