Monticello owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Becker Bulldogs 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Magic have posted against the Bulldogs since May 5, 2022.

Not much got past Carson Deibele, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Becker off the board. Deibele has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Monticello saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Peters, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Monticello is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Becker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will head out to challenge Rocori at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Magic 2.5, the Spartans 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Becker, they will venture away from home to take on Zimmerman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
