Basketball Preview: Wildwood Wildcats vs. Celebration Storm
Having just played yesterday, the Wildwood Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Celebration Storm at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wildwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Celebration likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Wildwood was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 64-60 to South Lake. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Wildwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Travonte Cousizan posted eight points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Celebration). They managed a 72-68 win over Bayside on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.
Wildwood better focus on containing Triston McNeal and Braden Plaisted as the pair were huge in Celebration's win. McNeal went 6 for 14 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Plaisted went 5 of 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Miller, who put up eight points and five steals.
The victory got Celebration back to even at 3-3. As for Wildwood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
