Softball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends West Springfield's Winning Streak

After a string of eight wins, West Springfield's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 11-4 to the Auburn Maroons. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this game were averaging 3.86 runs allowed.

Alexa Harvey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Sutton, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Springfield will venture away from home to face off against Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Auburn, they will face off against East Syracuse-Minoa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
