Baseball Game Preview: Winters Warriors vs. Pierce Bears

Winters is 9-1 against Pierce since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Winters has four straight victories, Pierce has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Winters is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Colusa a 16-0 shutout on Friday. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 23, 2024.

Boston Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Winters is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Jones was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Winters got a massive performance out of Julian Herrera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. What's more, Herrera posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Everett Beason, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Pierce's offense. They came up short against Paradise on Thursday, falling 10-0.

Winters' win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Pierce, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything went Winters' way against Pierce in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Winters made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
