Baseball Game Preview: Avon Eagles vs. Upper Arlington Golden Bears

The Avon Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Upper Arlington Golden Bears at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Avon is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Avon blew Berea-Midpark out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Berea-Midpark got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Titans by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.

Avon got a good showing from Jensen Petro, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petro has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jason Gillespie was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Baron Eberly was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Dublin Coffman hit Upper Arlington with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result.
