Softball Recap: Cypress Ridge Wins Going Away Against Northbrook

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cypress Creek, Cypress Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Northbrook Raiders as the Cypress Ridge Rams made off with a 7-1 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ariel Arambula was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Arambula was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Priscilla Garza, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Edelin Barrios, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cypress Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northbrook struck out seven times.

Cypress Ridge's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Northbrook, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Cypress Ridge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jersey Village at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Northbrook also won't see the field for a while: their next matchup is against Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
