247Sports released its initial Class of 2023 high school basketball player rankings Wednesday. There are some already familiar faces near the top of the list as New Jersey's DaJuan Wagner Jr. and California native Mikey Williams have been pegged as the cream of the crop in the sophomore class.

Wagner claimed the No. 1 spot. The Camden (N.J.) guard earned first team MaxPreps Freshman All-America honors last season after averaging a team-high 18.5 points per contest for the No. 16 ranked team in the final MaxPreps Top 25.

Williams checked in at No. 2 after earning MaxPreps Freshman of the Year honors last season. He averaged 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while leading San Ysidro (San Diego, Calif.) to its first ever section title. He broke the San Diego Section single-game scoring record with a 77-point outburst.

In a surprising announcement last week, Williams indicated he is now attending Lake Norman Christian (Davidson, N.C.).

Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, sits at No. 30 in the rankings after a promising freshman season at national powerhouse Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), which finished last season ranked No. 15 in the nation.

Other notable names near the top of the rankings include first team MaxPreps Freshman All-American Ryan Bewley, sharp-shooting Combine Academy (Lincolnton, N.C.) guard Robert Dillingham and talented Senegal native Baye Fall, a 6-foot-11 center.
