Recap: Purcell Marian Cavaliers vs. Valley View Spartans
The Purcell Marian Cavaliers and the Valley View Spartans squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Purcell Marian Cavaliers had to settle for second. Purcell Marian fell 31-22 to Valley View. Purcell Marian's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayel Harris, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Harris hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlyun Neal, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Henson - qb 2024, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Landen Malara also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Purcell Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Valley View, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Purcell Marian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley View will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waynesville at 7:00 p.m. Waynesville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last four games.
