Baseball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 11-12 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hillsdale Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Minutemen have suffered since April 29th.

As for Hillsdale, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 26th.

For Hillsdale's part, Kyle Turk made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. What's more, Turk posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kael Lewis was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Colton Mosher, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lexington will venture away from home to challenge Big Walnut at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Minutemen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hillsdale, they will face off against Lucas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
