After a string of six wins, Velva's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stanley Blue Jays. The Aggies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Jays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Velva had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19.
Makena Panchot paced Velva's offense, picking up seven kills. Panchot got some help from Adri Panchot and her 14 assists.
Velva's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Stanley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Velva wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against North Star co-op [Cando/Bisbee-Egeland/Munich/Starkweather] on the 27th. Hopefully Stanley paid attention to the Aggies' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Aggies at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday.
