Volleyball Game Preview: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. Ramona Bulldogs

The Mission Hills Grizzlies will challenge the Ramona Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mission Hills is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Classical Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Caimans by a score of 3-2. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mission Hills started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 26-28, 22-25, 25-16, 25-7, 15-9.

Mission Hills' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jake Larsen, who had 20 digs, and Noah Buhler, who had 16 assists and ten digs. Those ten digs gave Buhler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Yturralde, who had 17 assists and seven digs.

Meanwhile, Ramona didn't have quite enough to beat Escondido Charter on Friday and fell 2-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mission Hills fell to 5-1. As for Ramona, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Mission Hills' way against Ramona in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Mission Hills made off with a 3-0 win. Will Mission Hills repeat their success, or does Ramona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
