Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Brennan's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Brennan won the last time they faced O'Connor and things went their way on Friday too. The Brennan Bears took down the O'Connor Panthers 65-50. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Panthers are ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brennan was led to victory by Synariea Snow and Bella Flemings. Snow almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, while Flemings dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Flemings is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janea Walls, who posted ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Brennan was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as O'Connor only racked up seven assists.

Despite the defeat, O'Connor saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Casey Chavez went 6 of 11 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jules Roberts, who scored 16 points and five rebounds.

Brennan is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for O'Connor, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Coincidentally, Brennan and O'Connor will both be playing Marshall the next time they take the court. Brennan will host Marshall at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while O'Connor will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
