Basketball Recap: Sturgis Trojans vs. Burr Oak Bobcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Niles, Sturgis was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over the Burr Oak Bobcats. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Burr Oak's loss came despite strong showings from Austin Cole and Braxton Boyles. Cole went 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Boyles dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Cole, who posted eight points.
Sturgis' record is now 2-4. As for Burr Oak, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sturgis will take on Edwardsburg in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Edwardsburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Sturgis surely won't give up without a fight. Burr Oak and Bellevue will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burr Oak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
