Basketball Recap: Buena Gets the Win

Buena won the last time they faced Canyon del Oro, and Zion McLin did her part to make sure it happened again. The Buena Colts came out on top against the Canyon del Oro Dorados by a score of 43-32 on Saturday thanks in part to McLin, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with six boards and five steals. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Canyon del Oro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Kokoskie, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Coleman, who put up eight points and four steals.

The win got Buena back to even at 4-4. As for Canyon del Oro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Buena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-9 victory against Cholla on the 8th. As for Canyon del Oro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-33 loss against Ironwood Ridge on the 9th.
