Basketball Game Preview: Thorp Cardinals vs. Stanley-Boyd Orioles

Thorp hasn't had much luck against Stanley-Boyd recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cardinals will head out to face off against the Orioles at 6:45 p.m. Thorp has given up an average of 60.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Saturday, Thorp took a blow against Elmwood/Plum City, falling 57-27.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashlyn Abramczak, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. That was a full 48.1% of Thorp's points, marking the fifth time in a row Abramczak has posted more than a third of the team's points. Emma Mohr also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Stanley-Boyd was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Glenwood City 65-27. The Orioles have beaten the Hilltoppers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hilltoppers has come to flipping the script.

Stanley-Boyd now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Thorp, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Thorp came up short against Stanley-Boyd when the teams last played back in January, falling 45-33. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
