Volleyball Preview: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Clearfield Falcons
The Timpview Thunderbirds will take on the Clearfield Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Springville wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Timpview, they should've done a better job of containing Madeline Van Brederode. Timpview walked away with a 3-1 win over Springville last Tuesday thanks in part to Van Brederode, who had 12 digs and two aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 12 times she's played.
Timpview had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-16.
Timpview was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Clearfield rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Royals.
Clearfield not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Roy between 15 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-18.
Clearfield found their leader in sophomore Erin Lowry, who had eight digs and two aces.
Clearfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Timpview, their victory bumped their record up to 16-12.
