Basketball Recap: Arickaree Drops Season-High Score on Lone Star

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arickaree). They came out on top against the Lone Star Longhorns by a score of 58-49 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won three in a row.

Raeya Schrock was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 on her way to 22 points and seven rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Hermes, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points.

Arickaree was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lone Star saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peytyn Kuntz posted 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Kuntz. Aimee Trejo was another key player, putting up 17 points.

The victory got Arickaree back to even at 6-6. As for Lone Star, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-6.

Arickaree didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-23 defeat against Byers on the 30th. As for Lone Star, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-34 loss against Caliche on the 3rd.
