Basketball Recap: Mauldin Comes Up Short

Mauldin's tournament run continued when they took on Fort Mill on Saturday. The Mavericks fell 61-52 to the Yellow Jackets.

Despite the loss, Mauldin still got an impressive performance from Nathan Wilbourne, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 27 points and five boards. Wilbourne has become a key player for the Mavericks: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 4-6 otherwise. Eli Saint-Amour was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Fort Mill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wallace Campbell out in front who shot 56% from the field on his way to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jermier Nelson, who went 7-for-14 en route to 19 points.

Mauldin now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Fort Mill, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Mauldin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-67 defeat against Fox Creek on the 28th. As for Fort Mill, they have also already played their next matchup, an 82-79 win against James F. Byrnes on the 28th.
