Football Recap: Hoffman Estates Skates Past Wheeling with Ease

Hoffman Estates won the last time they faced Wheeling and things went their way on Friday too. The Hawks took their match with ease, bagging a 63-6 victory over the Wildcats. With the Hawks ahead 56-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Hoffman Estates' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Lezniak, who threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns. The Hawks' leading receiver Torey Baskin was Lezniak's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of TJ Bond, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Hoffman Estates has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 49 points thus far. As for Wheeling, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Hoffman Estates will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Trier at 7:30 p.m. As for Wheeling, they will take on Maine East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
