Basketball Preview: Webber Trojans vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons
Two dominant guards in Chloe King and Miley Britton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Webber Trojans just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Webber will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Movin Maroons are ranked 284th).
On Monday, Webber was beaten by the Bombers 57-22. Webber has not had much luck with the Bombers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Dieterich was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 49-43 to the Indians. Dieterich has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Estella Meinhart, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Kady Tegler was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Webber's loss dropped their record down to 4-24. As for Dieterich, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12.
Webber came up short against the Movin Maroons in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 46-39. Can Webber avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
