Baseball Recap: Mitchell Victorious

Mitchell won the last time they faced Eastern and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bluejackets walked away with a 5-2 win over the Musketeers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bluejackets.

Gavin Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mitchell let Blake King and Ryker Moore run wild. King went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Moore went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Moore a new career-high.

Mitchell's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mitchell will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarksville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastern, they will welcome Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.13 runs per game on average), something the Musketeers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
