Softball Recap: Akins Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Akins's offense. They came up short against the Del Valle Cardinals on Thursday, falling 9-0. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Akins saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Akins' loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Del Valle, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season.

Akins will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pflugerville Connally at 9:00 a.m. on June 26. The Eagles are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. Del Valle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
