Softball Game Preview: Rogers Pirates vs. Lauderdale County Tigers

Rogers and Lauderdale County are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Rogers Pirates will challenge the Lauderdale County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rogers will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Rogers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Clements on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Richardson was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alona Davis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last five matchups. Mattleigh Wells also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Lauderdale County didn't have quite enough to beat Colbert County on Tuesday and fell 7-5.

Lauderdale County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Rogers, their record now sits at 9-4.

Rogers came up short against Lauderdale County in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, falling 9-6. Can Rogers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
