Baseball Game Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Northview Vikings

The Esperanza Aztecs will venture away from home to face off against the Northview Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Esperanza has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with seven straight defeats, while Northview will come in with four straight wins.

On Tuesday, Esperanza didn't have quite enough to beat Adelanto and fell 11-10.

Esperanza got a massive performance out of Ian Gladue, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Santos, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northview's hitters rose to the challenge against a Chargers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.79 runs allowed on Thursday. The Vikings walked away with a 10-6 victory over Charter Oak.

Northview pushed their record up to 12-9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Esperanza, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Esperanza was able to grind out a solid win over Northview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aztecs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
