Grovetown needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Derrick Lane. Everything went the Warriors' way against the Heritage Patriots on Thursday as they made off with a 42-18 victory with plenty of help from Lane, who rushed for 217 yards and four scores while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Grovetown: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, don't look at Joshua Taylor. Despite the final result, he rushed for 148 yards and a pair of TDs. Chase Thompson got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Grovetown's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-6. As for Heritage, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Grovetown nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
