Soccer Game Preview: Challenger vs. University Christian

Challenger is 0-5 against University Christian since September of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Firebirds will head out to face off against the Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

While Challenger fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. Their defense stepped up to hand Christian Family Academy a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Challenger in their matchups with Christian Family Academy: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, University Christian won against Salem Christian School on Friday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Monday. The Barracudas came out on top in a nail-biter against North Hills Christian, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that University Christian have won by just one goal.

Challenger might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from University Christian when the teams last played back in September of 2019. Can the Firebirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
