Softball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Southwest SD Raiders

The Monte Vista Monarchs will venture away from home to challenge the Southwest SD Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Monte Vista lost 22-6 to High Tech SD on March 4th. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Storm recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Southwest SD got the win against Mount Miguel on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Daniela Nieto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Southwest SD got a big performance out of Romina Diaz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Diaz also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Samantha Ramirez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southwest SD, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
