Softball Recap: St. Maries' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five matches, St. Maries finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They came up short against the Potlatch Loggers, falling 12-2. The game marked the Lumberjacks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

St. Maries saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Averie Baird also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

St. Maries moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Potlatch, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Looking ahead, St. Maries will venture away from home to take on Timberlake at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lumberjacks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Potlatch, they will host Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
