Softball Recap: Lowell Devils vs. Elkton Elks

Lowell had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elkton Elks and snuck past 4-3. For Lowell, this counts as revenge for the 15-0 loss Elkton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Cassidy Matthews was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Matthews was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Amerika Baszler was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
