Basketball Recap: DJ Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jacksonville over North Brunswick

Jacksonville managed to slip by North Brunswick the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cardinals lost 73-47 to the Scorpions on Friday. The Cardinals were down 64-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Jacksonville's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DJ Williams, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 11 points. Another player making a difference was Matt Williams, who posted eight points.

Gabe Camacho was nothing short of spectacular for North Brunswick: he went 6-for-9 on his way to 18 points. Kane Jenrette was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Jacksonville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for North Brunswick, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Jacksonville will be home for the holidays to greet East Carteret at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Brunswick, they will take on Arendell Parrott Academy in a tournament on Thursday.
