Basketball Recap: NYOS Charter Jaguars vs. Meridian Lions

The NYOS Charter Jaguars had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Meridian 60-31 at home. The victory was nothing new for NYOS Charter as they're now sitting on eight straight.

NYOS Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Shelton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Shelton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Huff, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

NYOS Charter's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

NYOS Charter will take on the Lions at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meridian's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Jaguars at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully NYOS Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
