Basketball Game Preview: Restoration Academy vs. Banks Academy Jets

Restoration Academy will face off against the Banks Academy Jets on Friday.

Last Friday, Restoration Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 53-45 defeat to Ezekiel Academy. Restoration Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Restoration Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ian Fuller, who posted 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Jordan Anderson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Banks Academy hadn't done well against Bessemer Academy recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Banks Academy managed a 66-61 win over Bessemer Academy. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Jets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Rebels are ranked 33rd).

Banks Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Restoration Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

Restoration Academy lost to Banks Academy at home by a decisive 84-66 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Restoration Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
