Basketball Recap: Timpanogos Takes a Loss

Timpanogos lost against Timpview back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Timberwolves had to suffer through a 69-39 loss at the hands of the Thunderbirds. The Timberwolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-20.

Timpview had a senior duo take command as Will Openshaw went 8-for-12 en route to 18 points and five rebounds and Dean Rueckert shot 57% from the field on his way to 20 points and three steals. Rueckert's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Holcombe, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Timpanogos' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Timpview, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Timpanogos is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Timpview, they will take on American Fork at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
