Baseball Game Preview: Englewood Rams vs. Beachside Barracudas

The Englewood Rams will challenge the Beachside Barracudas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Englewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Beachside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Thursday, Englewood came up short against Bulloch Academy and fell 4-1. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Englewood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenearth Llezeth, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Beachside owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Matanzas.

Alex Gwaltney looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Gerhardt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Jason Gillespie was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Englewood's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Beachside, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.

Englewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Beachside in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
