Basketball Preview: Calvin Christian Crusaders vs. Rock Academy Warriors
The Calvin Christian Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rock Academy Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvin Christian will be strutting in after a victory while the Warriors will be coming in after a defeat.
Calvin Christian can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took down Orange Glen 55-36. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Calvin Christian considering their 25-point performance the contest before.
Isaac Lapka was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Lapka, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rock Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Army-Navy.
Calvin Christian's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Rock Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.
Calvin Christian suffered a grim 41-20 defeat to the Warriors in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rock Academy's David Whitley, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Now that Calvin Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
